OFFline Shorts Programme

We are all about the Shorts here at OFFline Film Festival!

Every year, we receive 100s of submissions to screen here in Birr.

Audience Award

Our 2023 Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday 15 October at Dooly’s Hotel. More details here.

This year, we will also have a special selection of Berlin shorts, curated by Ilana Glizer and in association with Interfilm.

Filmmakers, you never disappoint! This year, nearly 400 shorts were submitted once again to OFFline for consideration.

We will have 4 different programmes of shorts, non-competition and competition screening throughout the day.

After three bumper days of screenings of nearly 50 specially-selected Irish and International live- action and animation shorts, we’ll announce our 2023 OFFline winners.

Awards presented include Best Irish Short, Best International Short, our Audience Award and Best Animation.

OFFline was very proud to curate the programme for the first- ever Irish Film Berlin back in May.

As a follow on from that event, we’ve invited a number of Berlin-based filmmakers to screen their shorts at one of Birr’s most intriguing events.

2022 was a record-breaking year for submission to OFFline with 400+ sent to us for consideration.

After screening 60+ shorts on 14 & 15 October, we announced our 2022 winners on Sunday 17 October at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre.

We may not have been able to host a physical event in 2020, but we still received 100s of submissions from all over the world to our Shorts Competition last year.
